Designer dressing rooms at the Arcimboldi
The September edition of Elle Decor Italia takes us to the theatre, with “Vietato l’Ingresso” (No Entry), a project channelling the beauty that unites theatre and design, transforming the dressing rooms at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi into a veritable museum.
At the behest of the Milanese architect Giulia Pellegrino, now a trusted collaborator of Ron Gilad and Emilio Ambasz, the objective of the “Vietato l’Ingresso“ project was to renovate the dressing rooms at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi, a building designed by Vittorio Gregoretti. With the help of Marzia Ginocchio and Gianmario Longoni, who head up the institution, a mammoth, collective quest for beauty was launched. A total of 19 architecture studios were invited to take part in the project, each of which chose a space from the seventeen dressing rooms, a corridor and a communal bathroom. The new interiors also saw the involvement of design brands including Artemide, Cielo, De Castelli, Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH, Gessi, Lema, Living Divani, Natuzzi Italia, Pedrali, Saba, S cab, Tonelli and Zucchetti… The interventions all channel useability and aesthetics, and range from minimal approaches to real microworlds, each with their own particular story. The architecture studios taking part are: Nick Maltese Studio, Studio Cagnato, Calvi Cerchi Viganò Associati, BDGS Associati, Daniela Volpi, Atelierzero, DAP Studio, Enrico Scaramellini Architetto, Francesco Rota Architettura, Galante Menichini Architetti, Gio Latis Studio, Lupettatelier, Monica Baio Nicola Quadri, Paolo Volpato and Caterina Steiner, Park Associati, RGA studio, SenseLab, studio wok and KÄRLANDRÆ. “Vietato l’Ingresso” is a place where theatre and design collide, bringing the two disciplines even closer together, with an invitation to us all to take part: votes for the best “designer” dressing room are open until 27 September, and the winner will have a chance to redesign the “Camerino Muti” – the Muti dressing room – a space that has hosted and will go on to host the greatest stars in show business.
