The leitmotif of this year’s edition is “Thought for Humans” devised by Dentsu Creative Italy and entrusted to the American artist photographer Bill Durgin. Known for his ability to deconstruct and reinterpret the body, Durgin shows how light, wood, metal, fabric and bioplastic merge with human skin, making the message of sustainability, harmony and connection tangible.

At the center of the event is an  important Cultural Program that enhances the dialogue between industry, creativity and sustainability. Four special projects: in the city Robert Wilson. Mother at the Museo della Pietà Rondanini, in dialogue with Michelangelo’s masterpiece at the Castello Sforzesco and “Library of Light” by Es Devlin, a Salone project in collaboration with Pinacoteca di Brera and La Grande Brera and with the contribution of Feltrinelli. In the pavilions of the Fair, “La dolce attesa” (Pavilions 22-24), an installation by Paolo Sorrentino on the concept of waiting with sets  by set designer Margherita Palli and a sound carpet by Max Casacci, and “Villa Héritage” (Pavilions 13-15), designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, which pays tribute to the hotel business and the Venice of Luchino Visconti.

After the success of “The City of Lights”, Euroluce is back with 306 exhibitors. The biennial event is once again confirmed as an advanced showcase for lighting design, between technological innovation, sustainability and new aesthetic languages, with the first edition of “The Euroluce International Lighting Forum” (10-11 April), directed by Annalisa Rosso, Editorial Director & Cultural Events Advisor, in collaboration with APIL, with over 20 international experts from various fields, ranging from solar designer Marjan van Aubel to Stefano Mancuso, plant neurologist, to the great British anthropologist Tim Ingold.

SaloneSatellite is also back. After 25 years it continues to be an incubator for young talents under 35, with 700 designers from 36 countries and 20 international design schools. The 2025 theme, “New Craftsmanship: A New World” invites us to reflect on the evolution of the handmade, between tradition and innovation.

The four annual events will be present at Fiera Milano, Rho: Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Salone del Complemento d’Arredo, Workplace3.0 and S.Project, where design becomes experience, between aesthetics, functionality, modularity and innovation. The shapes soften, evoking nature. Refined materials and customizable finishes tell the story of a new sartorial and sensitive luxury, with an interior design that interprets contemporary living in an emotional and technological key.

Finally, for the third year running, the Formafantasma Arena will host “Drafting Futures. Conversations about Next Perspectives” (Pavilion 14), offering five days of meetings with leading names on the international scene – including Es Devlin, Bjarke Ingels, Lesley Lokko, Valeria Segovia and Paolo Sorrentino – dealing with crucial issues for the future of design, hospitality and urban planning.

Design Kiosk 2025 - Ph. Diego Ravier

In the city, from 1st to 13th April, following the success of its first edition, the Design Kiosk  - the Salone del Mobile landmark entrusted to Corraini Edizioni (project by DWA-Design Studio) – will be back in Piazza della Scala, hosting meetings with leading figures in the design world at 6pm.

“Today we work here and build relationships and projects that must last longer than this week: this is the strength and uniqueness of the Salone del Mondo.” With these words Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, inaugurated the 63rd edition of the Salone del Mobile. In a period of uncertainty with respect to international policies, Porro explained how the Salone has been responding to changes for some time through a world tour to identify new markets and invest in young talents, ensuring that safe place where companies take their first steps and have the opportunity to grow. “Doing industry means making culture,” she continues.

Claudio Feltrin, President of FederlegnoArredo, urges the government to defend the supply chain, which “represents 100% of Italianness. Among the institutional contributions was that by Giuseppe Sala, mayor of Milan, who wished everyone “all the best in their work”, recalling how the strength of this territory and this sector should never be underestimated.

For Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region, the strength of the event lies above all in Lombard know-how, in Made in Italy, in the vision of young people and in the concreteness of craftworkers. “This is our value that no one can take away from us and that no one can remotely imitate. Today, in these 170,000 square meters that have all been rented, we see the representation of a product amounting to 17 billion euros, a striking figure.”

Adolfo Urso, Minister for Business and Made in Italy, also stressed the uniqueness of the Italian panorama: “The Salone del Mobile must be the symbol of our recovery, of an Italy that does not give up, aware of its strength, its uniqueness, which even American consumers recognize. I believe that the strongest response that the European Union must give to its companies is to unleash the creative force of European companies that have been limited by a regulatory system that has suffocated them in their natural expression,” he continued.
