Maria Porro to speak on Sustainable Design & Fashion at Expo Dubai
Take another look at the President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano’s intervention from Expo Dubai 2020
The Salone del Mobile.Milano organised a special edition entitled “supersalone” in September, which helped kickstart the return to large-scale international events. One of the themes that had a major impact on the success of the event was its focus on sustainability, and the commitment of the organisers and the participating companies provided an initial concrete response to a question that has always stood at the heart of international debate, which is whether it is truly possible to rethink large events with the sustainability of the display and the infrastructures as their starting point. The answer is clearly in the affirmative, but only when all the actors involved – businesses, exhibition companies, and national and international institutions – are in a position to channel their efforts into a future that is increasingly environmentally and people conscious. FederlegnoArredo’s recently launched Sustainability Decalogue is a first, major step towards achieving what may be an ambitious objective, but it is one that can no longer be delayed.
