Comfortable and sustainable, outdoor furnishing lends itself to many different interpretations, channelling innovation and constantly evolving aesthetics

There’s no doubt that outdoor spaces have now taken on a central role on the domestic scene. Outdoor spaces are becoming increasingly fused with internal ones, creating welcoming and comfy environments, channelling both good looks and functionality. The furnishings, made from innovative and weather-resistant materials, are suited to a wide range of settings: from poolsides to terraces, gardens and small balconies. They thus become the undisputed protagonists, capable of stamping a precise identity on the spaces and making the open air experience even more enjoyable, without skimping on style.

With this in mind, Elite Stone, the Italian company specialising in the production and processing of marble slabs for luxury projects, presented its Elite Travertine Sofa, designed by Tetyana Kovalenko, at the last Salone del Mobile. Made of travertine marble, a refined and resistant material, it is designed to adapt perfectly to outdoor spaces, thanks to its minimal and durable design and the comfort guaranteed by its large cushions.

Federica Biasi’s Antigua furniture line for EMU, inspired by the gentle motion of ocean waves, is also interesting. The inviting design stands out for its generous proportions and sinuous lines, the aluminium frame wrapped in a lightweight woven rope, revisited in a contemporary key. Extremely versatile, the collection comes in a wide range of colour combinations, in both subdued and bold shades.

There’s no shortage of surprising pieces in terms of shape and comfort, including Cabrio from Extremis, designed by Dirk Wynants: an outdoor two-seater sofa with a convertible roof, suitable for all seasons. Soft cushions and headrests make Cabrio into a cosy refuge, perfect for enjoying the sunset, a view or for reading a book in total relaxation. The ergonomic footrests round off the piece, and can be folded and replaced in a compartment under the sofa when the upper part is closed.

With its sleek lines, Nao Tamura’s Dunne sofa for Gandiablasco is designed for indoor and outdoor spaces. The structure is made of 100% recyclable aluminium, processed with semi-industrial processes, while the seat and backrest are made from polyurethane foam and polyester fibre, covered with water-repellent fabric. The armrests, on the other hand, are made of quick-drying Gravidry® foam, combined with polyester fibre. The completely removable technical cover guarantees practicality and durability.

Pedrali has expanded its Lamorisse collection, designed by CMP Design, introducing new outdoor lounge chairs designed for maximum comfort in the open air. The line includes a lounge chair and a two-seater sofa, characterised by an ultralight extruded aluminium frame. The oval legs are welded to round armrests holding large, enveloping cushions. The seat is supported by elastic belts that offer optimal, extremely robust comfort. The backrest and seat cushions are zipped together for ease of maintenance and cleaning. The frames are stackable and the cushion covers easily removed for space-saving purposes.

Roda’s Stresa collection, signed by Piero Lissoni, reinterprets classic outdoor furniture in a contemporary key. Its name evokes the timeless elegance of the town of the same name on Lake Maggiore, famous for its historic villas and beautifully preserved Liberty-style architecture. Characterised by its essential, sophisticated design, and proposed in the sophisticated Smoke finish, the collection stands out for its discreet elegance, which makes it suitable for both domestic and contract environments. In the sofa, the slatted aluminium structure accommodates soft cushions, while the sheet metal backrest with a small perforated diamond pattern adds a graphic and functional detail. The stoneware tops of the tables and coffee tables make for an elegant material contrast. The collection is completed by a single or double pouffe system with an integrable coffee table, making for a flexible seat/tabletop support solution.

With its retro aesthetic, Tuuci’s Ocean Master Mega Max Voilare parasol, designed by Dougan Clarke, commands attention with its sophisticated silhouette and articulated frame, characterised by an intricate system of frames that creates a focal point beneath the canopy. It features 24 ribs and boasts a maximum, imposing diameter of up to 6 metres.

The powerfully comfortable new Africa Padded armchair designed by Eugeni Quitllet for Vondom conforms to the iconic design of the collection. The lightweight and resistant monobloc structure is combined with an upholstered seat with enveloping shapes. It comes in five different colours and is customisable with outdoor fabrics, offering a gentle, ergonomic sitting experience thanks to differentiated density padding.

The Salò collection from UnopiĂą, signed by Matteo Thun and Benedetto Fasciana, is an expression of timeless elegance. Inspired by Lake Garda, the delicate, sophisticated lines of the seating range evoke its freshness, colours and essence. The aluminium structure, with its curved armrests, is available in terracotta, graphite, sage and sand finishes, paired with high-end fabrics in a large variety of colour options. The collection also includes lounge and dining chairs, two- and three-seater sofas, tables and accessories such as sun loungers and coffee tables.
