Shahira Fahmy founded Shahira Fahmy Architects, Cairo -Dubai. The Studio focuses on tying links between crafts and architecture, at scales that span from furniture design to territorial, urban, and master planning. The studio has been advocating for contemporary language rooted in the contextual heritage: “A language discovered rather than designed”. Exploring boundaries between the spatial and the narrative, the functional and the speculative, the practice and the theory, the past and the present. Fahmy lectured at Harvard University GSD, Columbia University GSAPP, Cooper Union, The Royal Academy of Arts RA, MIT, Yale University, Cooper Union, City College of New York, The Royal Institute of British Architects RIBA, The Architecture Association London, amongst others. She is a recipient of LOEB, Hutchins, and Berkman Klein Fellowships from Harvard University 2014-2016.
