Writer and Specialist, Patachitra Folk Art
Urmila Chakraborty, born in India, has been living and working in Milan, Italy, for more than thirty years. She is the founder and owner of Englishour and worked as an adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Linguistic and Cultural Mediation at the State University of Milan. She is a writer, translator and interpreter and has long standing collaborations with various academic and cultural institutions in India and Italy, such as Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, Visva Bharati University, and Indian Institute of social Welfare and Business Management. For the last few years she has been working extensively with ‘Patachitra’ and the ‘patuas’ of Midnapur organising exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and study tours. She also has a number of papers and publications on the subject.
