Since 1980, Rina Menardi has been developing her research into the field of ceramics, personalising work techniques, exploring colour schemes, striving for neatness of shape. The company Rina Menardi was established in 1995 by Rina Menardi and her husband Valter Milanese. The ever-personal research she conducts over the expressive potentialities of baked clay has always been accompanied by her growth as an individual. More than 30 years of research in the field of color and development of alternative techniques of work, but always manual.
Rina’s intent is that the object should not impose itself but, rather, suggest sensations, both visual and tactile able to evoke our deepest emotions. Rina works the clay without ever feeling a ceramist: “Clay allows me to give a three-dimensional shape to the here-and-now me. It is a way of communicating with myself, and therefore with others. I simply strive to respect the natural surfacing of things that are already within us”. Rina is essentially a purist of the soul, she loves to live by “feeling”. She is an alchemist of matter and transforms everything she can into beauty.
“I have always had the need to express what I feel beyond the mind. Being a continuous inner mutation, my creations reflect where “I am” in the act of creation. Often I understand only after what my soul wanted to express in that moment because nothing is rational, but instinctive.“
