Arper - Catifa (RE) 53 Collection

Design by Lievore Altherr Molina, 2001 – Update 2025

Catifa 53 is the original—the design that shaped Arper’s identity.

Catifa 53 is the original—the design that shaped Arper’s identity. Timeless in its essence, its elegant, curved seat and streamlined profile represent the ultimate balance of purity and function. Through its refined simplicity, it continues to reinvent itself, adapting to the needs of contemporary living. In 2025, this evolution reaches a milestone with Catifa (RE) 53, the result of a renewed focus on material innovation, that embraces a mindful use of resources.
The upholstered version of Catifa (RE) 53 features a shell made using 100% recycled plastic, sourced from a blend of post-consumer and post-industrial waste. This innovation reflects Arper’s ongoing commitment to responsible resources use, pushing the boundaries of sustainable design. Color and comfort - hallmarks of the collection - are also at the core of this update. Covers are fully disassemblable, enhancing both sustainability and ease of care, ensuring a longer lifespan and circularity in design. This evolution also introduces a more relaxed, contemporary, and softer aesthetic, offering greater comfort while maintaining its timeless elegance. Just like the original, Catifa (RE) 53 redefines style and beauty—now setting a new benchmark for sustainable design.
