For the artworks of the collection INSERT COIN, the computer algorithm cuts up pictures of old arcade computer games until the original motifs become unrecognizable. Dissolved into pixels, the screenshots morph into color palettes that suggest something entirely new and that can serve as pattern graphs for the carpet collection. Jan Kath interpreted these patterns and brought every single one of these roughly 1.7 million pixels back into the real world - by having them tied knot by knot by hand in Kathmandu.
