LE TRIOMPHE DE LA MARQUETERIE
Category: Cabinets and containers
The art of the marquetry, with its geometry alternate to floral ornaments, finds full expression in this remarkable cabinet, example of sublime ébénisterie.
Modeled from an eighteenth-century masterpiece, this majestic rectangular commode, with its curved front, angular corners and precious marble top, amazes with its vibrant dynamism. The subtle veneers of the frame and panels, composed of differently shaped and colored species, create splendid effects and represent an example of high cabinetry. The whole is embellished and enriched by bronze ornaments and friezes, which crown a large front door and two side doors, plus a set of three drawers with painted ceramic medallions.
The combination of these fine details makes this piece a real affirmation of the strength of craftsmanship applied to fine arts.
