PHILIA
Category: Sofas and armchairs
The Philia sofa system is the new Roda collection by Rodolfo Dordoni, whose generous shapes and dimensions return to the roots of the Roda philosophy in a harmonious approach to indoor sofa design.
With the name Philia, which in ancient Greek indicated the fraternal, friendly dimension of a relationship, RODA evokes the complicity and harmony that for years has linked people and the outdoor furniture company to its unforgettable artistic director, Rodolfo Dordoni.
The large base of each unit, reminiscent of the teak decks of boats, is slightly raised and consists of a perimeter frame featuring a rhythmic arrangement of slats that also act as useful surfaces or coffee tables, emphasising the solid horizontal model that forms the basis of the various layouts.
The modular grating - the wooden grille typically used in boats - ranges from the square coffee table to the three-seater sofa, with more generous sizes for the chaise/daybed units. Lightly padded and fitted with additional cushions, the backs and armrests can be reclined in three different positions, a distinctive feature that rhythmically defines the various possible compositions, underlining the multifaceted modularity of this system. If necessary, the armrest itself acts as a backrest/headrest, ensuring maximum comfort, from conventional sitting positions to more relaxing postures.
