Current is part of our SUM initiative and owes it's name to the current of the sea, in a world where sustainability is the new mantra. Current shows contribution to the matter and is made from recycled aluminium and recycled plastic wickerwork.
SUM stands for Still Usable Materials, which is a category name for furniture made of actual written-off materials or products that can be re-used after renovation. The initiative is part of our Mission Hospitality and the ambition to give new value to used materials (upcycling) with innovative techniques.
SUM is not only an initiative about recycling and upcycling. It's also about assigning added value to collaborations. To attain this, we are constantly seeking new ways, materials, and forms of collaboration.
In order to guarantee the quality of our SUM products, we exclusively use high-quality recycled materials. This is why we collaborate with specialised companies that can provide the right inflow of used material. Working with one of our producers, we have succeeded in using recycled aluminium, and making high-quality wickerwork out of HDPE plastic granulate. For some time, we have also been supplying chairs with felt made from PET bottles.
Biscuit
Craving something sweet and light? The biscuit satisfies that need with its seat and back that look like a cookie. The chair has a sturdy look due to the thick steel frame.
Chester
Chester Chair by Elise Luttik translates the classy style of the iconic Chesterfield chair to contemporary time.
ReUnited
The ReUnited is a typical snellaars design: with a clear story and functional design. The ReUnited chair refers to that lively period a century ago.
Fioli
The design of the fioli is inspired by rose petals. The petals’ round, open shape looks cheerful, Friendly and inviting.
Sparky
The bowl of the Sparky is made of recycled PET felt and pressed completely without adhesives. The frame follows the flowing contours of the shell.
Gelato
The name gelato is the italian word for Ice cream. The shape of the chair, stacked scoops of ice cream, not only gives gelato an inviting look, but also facilitates the armrests in the design.
Loop
The striking tube structure creates an imaginary loop. It continues from the backrest to the footrest, giving the stool a futuristic and playful appearance.
Steelwood
The design of the Steelwood looks sleek and is surprisingly comfortable. The ‘socks’ give it a character of its own.
Pebble
This design by Erik Remmers has a distinct 'future heritage look'. Inspired by the round and flattened shape of a pebble and combined with his love for wood.
Nibor
Comfort comes first with the charming Nibor, a visually striking chair that exudes a light and effortless appeal.
Tube
Tube is a slim and compact chair with a strong graphic character. The lines formed by the black tubular steel frame of the Tube make the chair a striking appearance.
Arcadia
Satelliet Originals designer Jesse Vissser nailed it with the contemporary Arcadia. The frame and bowl fit together perfectly.
Mila
The name of this unique wooden chair has its roots in both Slavic and Latin origins, where Mila means ‘beloved’ – a fitting choice for a piece that instantly wins hearts.
