Accessibility Statement for APP
Accessibility statement
Salone del Mobile Milano is committed to making its App accessible, in accordance with Law no. 4 of January 9, 2004. This accessibility statement applies to the Salone del Mobile app, available for download from the App Store and Google Play
Compliance Status
The mobile application was developed using the Flutter framework, which provides built-in accessibility features for both native Android and iOS platforms, in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the official documentation (Flutter Accessibility).
As of today, the app is partially compliant with the accessibility requirements set out in Annex A of the UNI CEI EN 301549:2021 standard, as required by Article 3-quater of Law no. 4 of January 9, 2004, due to the presence of certain non-conformities that limit the overall user experience.
Starting in June 2025, an in-depth technical analysis will be carried out with the aim of identifying additional accessibility-related issues. Upon completion of this phase, remediation activities will be initiated, focusing on targeted improvements to usability and the overall user experience.
The updated version of the app, including these improvements, is scheduled for release by the end of September 2025, aimed at improving compliance with accessibility standards, in accordance with current regulations for mobile applications.
Non-accessible Content
The content listed below is not accessible for the following reason: Non-compliance with Law no. 4 of January 9, 2004 (Stanca Act) and the requirements set out in Annex A of the UNI CEI EN 301549 standard.
Perceivable content
- Lack of text alternatives: several common buttons (e.g., “back,” “share,” “contact,” social media icons) are not labeled and therefore are not recognized by screen readers.
- Missing labels in filters: in filter panels (e.g., exhibitors), letters and numbers are announced without meaningful context, making them difficult to understand for blind users.
- Visually present but non-perceivable controls: some components are present in the DOM but not accessible, such as invisible elements between the “back” and “share” buttons.
Operable content
- Unreachable functionality: certain key CTAs (e.g., “request appointment”) are not accessible via screen reader navigation, preventing access to essential features.
- Illogical focus order: the “filters” button in the exhibitors list appears too late in the DOM order, leading to a non-intuitive experience for users relying on assistive technologies.
- State not conveyed: the “to visit” CTA does not communicate the exhibitor’s status in an accessible way, making it difficult to determine whether it is selected or not.
Understandable content
- Non-descriptive or missing labels: various buttons and controls do not provide clear indications of their purpose, hindering user interaction.
- Unintuitive navigation: for certain profiles (e.g., operators, exhibitors), access to secondary menus is neither direct nor easily discoverable.
Robustness
- Roles and states not communicated: components such as checkboxes or action buttons do not properly expose their name, role, and state to screen readers.
- Dynamic inaccessibility: dynamic components (e.g., modals, panels) do not always conform to the required ARIA semantics for robust navigation.
These non-conformities are spread across multiple sections of the app, including navigation and detail screens (e.g., exhibitors, events, brands, products), as well as the reserved area.
