SUSTAINABILITY
“Living Together” by Sonal Mithal and Akshar Gajjar, in collaboration with Schweizerischer Nationalfonds (SNF), Birkhäuser
in English
Rethinking architecture beyond its functional role. An invitation to embrace a holistic and ecological approach, in which design becomes a multi-species alliance and a practice of sustainable coexistence. The authors explore the idea of the sort of architecture capable of creating alliances between humans, plants and other forms of life, questioning the traditional values of progress, monumentality and permanence. Buildings thus become areas of coexistence, in which listening to the needs of different species can translate into more sensitive and sustainable solutions. A book that speaks to those who imagine a future in which living is not only human, but shared.

ARCHITECTURE
“Trees, Time, Architecture!” by Andjelka Badnjar Gojnić, Kristina Pujkilović, Ferdinand Ludwig, Andres Lepik, Park Books
in English and German
This catalogue for the exhibition of the same name at the Architekturmuseum in Munich tackles the relationship between trees, time and architecture by rethinking building in relation to natural processes. In an era of climate crisis and resource depletion, trees become the protagonists of this new vision, no longer decorative elements or building materials, but living organisms and project partners. At the heart of this is "baubotanik" – the practice of building on trees – which combines architecture and botany in an experimental and poetic dimension. Architecture, therefore, is no longer a finished object, but an evolving process and a hybrid organism that lives and changes over time.

DESIGN
“Space Age Design” by Peter Martin, teNeues
in English and German
A coffee-table book on the aesthetics of the space age, between the launch of Sputnik-1 in 1957 and the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster almost thirty years later. From iconic furniture to avant-garde architecture, the book provides an overview of the high points of a period of optimism, innovation and creative energy that brought technology, design, art and fashion together to create a truly "stellar" output. From George Nelson's Marshmallow sofa to Joe Colombo's Space Age furniture to the iconic Tulip, Ball and Egg Chairs, to Gio Ponti's Luna Verticale and Vico Magistretti's Atollo lamps, the design world has catapulted the futuristic space look into everyday life.

CONTEMPORARY ART
“Seeing the Unseeable” by Julie Joyce, Stephen Nowlin, Hyesoo Christina Valentine, ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena, Hirmer Publishing
in English
A book and an exhibition that explore how data, an invisible and ubiquitous matter of our time, can be transformed into artistic and visual language. Introduced at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, the project brings together sixteen international artists and designers committed to interpreting the Big Data phenomenon and the growing influence of their visualisation in contemporary culture. Works created over the last twenty years – including digital art, design and craftsmanship – serve to highlight the way in which information can become a tool for expression, criticism and, also, wonder. An invitation to reflect on its social and perceptual impact, offering new perspectives on the relationship between man and machine.
