Three great installations are featured at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024
A special project bearing the signature of the famous filmmaker David Lynch; an installation designed and created by Accurat, Design Group Italia and Emiliano Ponzi; six independent international magazines on the theme of Food & Design
From 16 to 21 April, the Salone del Mobile.Milano will stage a full cultural programme that addresses current issues and new forms of experimentation, comparison and in-depth analysis. It will be a very broad offering designed to involve visitors across the whole layout. Three great installations to learn about and explore the state of the art of the industry or reflect on the physical and emotional value of interiors.
"lnteriors by David Lynch. A Thinking Room" (Pavilions 5-7) is the title of the site-specific installation by David Lynch, the celebrated filmmaker of the unconscious. Two mirrored “thought rooms” are imagined as symbolic doors to be passed through in order to immerse yourself in the Event. An evocative and visionary installation, it is a sensory and narrative experience rich in emotion. Antonio Monda, the project’s curator, says: “Unmistakable and inimitable, David Lynch's cinematographic language follows the course of dreams and nightmares, and in both cases a rational reading proves to be incomplete and fallacious. The language he uses in private conversations, by contrast, has the rigor of a scientific outlook and the intelligence of detachment and irony. The reason for this difference lies in the transcendental meditation that he practices daily, and the Thinking Room represents its perfect synthesis: a place immersed in blue velvet, in which visitors can lose themselves and then find themselves, and decide whether the person who offered them that opportunity was the artist or the man, supposing there is a difference.”
What is the state of bathroom design when it comes to sustainable water use? This is the question that shapes “Under the Surface”, the second installation designed and created by Accurat, Design Group Italia and Emiliano Ponzi for the International Bathroom Exhibition 2024 (Pavilion 10). It takes the form of a submerged island: through a narrative that is visual and at the same time educational, it provides visitors with the resources to become aware of the environmental impact of our everyday practices with water. Through the innovative use of dynamic data-visualization, the project presents the technological and manufacturing advances related to water protection in bathroom furnishings. In the design team’s own words: “Under the Surface” expresses the complexity of the world we live in, where it is no longer possible to analyze only the surfaces of things, but we need to go deeper. Seeing ourselves and the world in depth is the only way to understand something, learn something, and become better people and consumers.”
EuroCucina 2024 explores the relationship between Food & Design, celebrating food as a symbol and cultural phenomenon. A great immersive space and a fluid stage hosts six independent food magazines from different countries with their distinctive points of view on the emergencies of our time and possible future scenarios, through representations created in partnership with artists, designers, chefs and creatives. Entitled “All You Have Ever Wanted to Know About Food Design in Six Performances”, the project is a journey through presentations, reflections, performances, exhibitions and tasting experiences, The installations will be open to visitors all through the opening hours, while the food tasting experiences and the presentations of the projects and editorial visions, which accompany them, will be held live in the Food Design Arena (Pavilions 2 and 4) at 2.30 p.m.
