The name of the Gradé rug collection is inspired by the colour vibrations of the pure New Zealand wool yarn, whose shades range from natural to rope or pearl grey to anthracite.
Made using the handtufting technique, which consists of inserting tufts of yarn inside a fabric backing, these rugs have a texture consisting of bouclé stitches and velvet for the inside, while the characteristic outer edge is fringed.

Setsu & Shinobu Ito are both Japanese designers with extensive work experience in architecture, interior, product, industrial and packaging design. Setsu Ito graduated from Tsukuba University in Japan and then began collaborating with the leader of Italian avant-garde design, Alessandro Mendini, at Studio Alchimia, going on to work with the great master of modern architecture and design, Angelo Mangiarotti. Shinobu Ito graduated from Tama Art University in Tokyo and started her career with CBS Sony (Sony Music Entertainment), Sony Creative Products. She got her Master degree at the Domus Academy in Milan. The couple opened their design studio in 1997 and have been working for international clients in a wide range of design activities ranging from architecture to interior, industrial, artisanal and packaging design since then.
