The Ringo collection is, above all, a brave design. A large pendant or ceiling lamp that accentuates material rather than form.
Essentially, it’s a basic geometric shape in volume but its material is astonishing, resembling a block of ice, both solid and weightless at the same time. Its designer, Joan Gaspar, has used transparent polycarbonate to create optical reflections, giving the impression of an organic design made out of glass.
Its large size is in keeping with its function, given that it’s been designed to illuminate large areas with considerable height, contemporary architectural projects ranging from hotels to contract in which a lot of light is required. Its transparent nature means that it blends in readily and harmonises with the space, also in repetition. A design with an innovative proposal: its shade distributes and regulates the direct light homogeneously whilst also revealing what’s happening inside.
Ringo establishes a dialogue between light and matter. Switched off it’s a forceful object with a strong presence; switched on its transparency defines its volume and filters the light. An interplay of opposites in which the light manages to make the material less dense and its design weightless.
Available in a ceiling version (with a fixed pole or built-in) and a pendant version, in two sizes, 70 and 90 cm, and in four finishes: transparent, green, amber and smoked. It also has three colour temperatures: 27K, 30K and 40K.
