Le tapis nomade

“Designed in Los Angeles, produced in Nepal, debuted in New York” is Le Tapis Nomade, a rug born from the collaboration between Atelier de Troupe and cc-tapis, showed in the occasion of the New York City design festival.
cc-tapis meets the LA-based furniture brand Atelier de Troupe, a stimulating encounter that culminated in a dedicated photo and video shoot. The location was an integral part of the story-telling behind the collaboration, an architectural icon in Milan, chosen as the meeting point between the two realities.
The new rug collection synthesizes the essence of both brands, each distinguished by its own character and identity. Le Tapis Nomade embodies the style of Atelier de Troupe and benefits from the quality and craftsmanship of cc-tapis in the interpretation of a “vision” that is always at the origin of the Californian brand’s creations.
As the name of the collection suggests, the rug is a crossroads of different cultures and cinematographic references. A juxtaposition of two distant inspirations: the nomadic aesthetic of Berber carpets and the art direction of Michelangelo Antonioni’s 1975 film, The Passenger. Atelier de Troupe’s intention was to create a rug that transcends era and locale ultimately creating something nomadic.
Capturing this meeting of California and Italy, Atelier de Troupe and cc-tapis shot and filmed the rug at Milan’s own “Casa a tre cilindri”, designed by Bruno Mangiarotti and Angelo Morassutti. This quintessential piece of mid-century Milanese architecture was inherent in the choice for telling the story of the Le Tapis Nomade. Among the objects filmed in situ are other pieces by Atelier de Troupe: the iconic Coda lounge chair and Shell vase from the latest Château collection.
