Victor Brecheret (1894-1955) since he was a child loved to scribble drawings and make clay dolls, which he burned in the oven of his home. This artist's projects were many, he had inexhaustible strength to produce and create. Always serious, the artist who produced many bronze sculptures, with strong and imposing characteristics, had another side of being passionate about the landscape and the bucolic life of the countryside, coffee plantation and cattle raising, and especially the popular culture and the people who lived in this scenario. Brecheret had a great admiration for the figure of St. Francis, always around animals. And in this fresco he portrays him with great lightness and simplicity this saint considered protector of animals. By Kamy is the brand authorized by the Victor Brecheret Institute to represent the artist's drawings in tapestries and rugs. This tapestry was made by the embroiderers of the social project 1+1+by Kamy, in free hand embroidery, mixing various types of stitches with different techniques created by them.

Victor Victor Brecheret was born on December 15, 1894, in the town of Farnese, Viterbo province, Italy. Orphaned at a very young age, he went to live with his aunt and uncle, Augusto and Paulina Nanni.

Since childhood, he loved making clay figures, which he would bake in the oven at home. One day, while walking down the street, he found a magazine on the ground with photographic illustrations of Auguste Rodin's works; this discovery inspired him to decide what he wanted to become in the future: a sculptor! At 18, he started attending the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios, taking classes in drawing, modeling, and wood carving.

During the day, he worked at his uncle's shoe factory, and at night, he attended the course. After almost two years of study, one of the teachers at the Liceu called his aunt and said: “Ma'am, we can’t teach this boy anything more. He has incredible talent. If you could take him to Rome or Paris, there he could learn whatever he wants. He has so much talent; I think it would be worth it.”
